Foundation A
Welcome to the Foundation A classroom!
We have 12 energetic and enthusiastic learners in our classroom this year. We are also very lucky and grateful to have two amazing Education Support (ES) staff members Karina Austin who works with us on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. As well as Katie Van Lambaart who works with us on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
As much as we spend time in our small Foundation grade, we do love to come together with Foundation B and Mrs Potter to do some of our learning. Coming together allows for greater learning opportunities, creating friendships and most of all caters for student’s abilities.
We have so much fun in Foundation with our learning!
For Literacy, we learn our letter sounds, how to read and write through the Jolly Phonics program. This is full of fun actions and songs to go with each sound that we learn. We have also started a new Writing program this year called Talk for Writing. This involves a lot of oral language and the use of hand gestures to story tell.
For Numeracy we have four one-hour sessions a week which focus on the mathematical concept being taught. Once a week, students are engaged in our Maths program ‘Maths Ninjas’ which assists students with mental math computations.
Students are also immersed in a range of extra-curricular activities throughout the week. These include; MARC Van, Physical Education, STEM, Auslan, The Arts, PMP and Inquiry.
